Volunteer Trophy

Volunteer Trophy sculpted by Mary Maguire

A new trophy has just been completed for the National Championships. Pending the NRA trophy approval process, it will be presented for the first time in 2007 in all three phases of the NRA National Championships at Camp Perry: pistol, smallbore and highpower! For smallbore, it will be awarded to the High Collegiate in 3-P.

Mary Maguire, a sculptor and thirty-five year Camp Perry volunteer, has sculpted, cast and donated a 15 by 12 inch bas-relief bronze plaque of the US BRIGANTINE NIAGARA. Commodore Oliver H. Perry transferred his "Don't Give Up The Ship" battle flag to the Niagara then he and his crew sailed the vessel to a stunning victory over the British fleet. In the bronze sculpture, the Niagara is shown in full sail at the height of victory.

The trophy will be named the Volunteer Trophy. The BH Club is assisting Mary in collecting donations from volunteers and other friends of Camp Perry to help with the cost. Although the bronze plaque is donated, there is still need to cover costs for a base, shipping case and ten years of presentation plaques (an NRA requirement).

If you wish to donate toward it, your name will be inscribed on the back of the base. Please send your donation to:
